4 OF THE MOST INTERESTING HOTELS IN DOWNTOWN DENVER

CHECK OUT THE BEST HOTELS IN DENVER

Denver hotels in downtown put you close to all the attractions, shops, restaurants, and sports venues—and give you a little taste of the city’s history.

Stay at a Denver hotel in downtown, and you can bike around historic LoDo, indulge in retail therapy, try one of the newest, chicest restaurants, or watch the Rockies at Coors Field.

1. Hotel Monaco Denver

Urban cool meets Western charm in the rooms of this downtown boutique hotel. Amenities include a yoga mat in every room, a hosted wine reception every evening, complimentary loaner bicycles, an on-site spa, and free food bowls and pet beds for your pooch if she came along for the trip. Service here is first rate and the location can’t be beat, since the Monaco is near everything from nightlife to sports.

2. The Curtis

This hotel bills itself as “an experience,” and we tend to agree. Step inside their doors, and you’ll find cartoons playing in the retro-chic lobby, an impressive art collection with works by local and nationally renowned artists, and a 5 & Dime filled with treats from the past.

You’ll also find a slew of old-school board games like Candyland that you can play with your friends. The guest rooms reflect that eclectic, artsy, fun aesthetic; each features a theme and matching art from a Denver-based artist.

3. The Crawford Hotel, Denver Union Station

If you like being in the center of the action, this is the hotel for you. This hotel is literally part of the city’s historic transportation hub, Denver Union Station. The hotel’s lobby is in the station’s waiting room. The hotel, which lies above the station, has maintained many of the building’s original features, including blueprints, terrazzo flooring, and iron staircases.

Each of the three hotel floors here represents a different era of the station’s history. The second-floor Pullman Rooms have an art deco theme and train car design. The Classic Rooms on the third floor have a Victorian feel and 14-foot ceilings, and the fourth-floor Loft Rooms have original wooden beams, brick accents, and dormer windows. All the rooms are quite remarkable, but no two rooms are alike.

4. Renaissance Downtown City Center

This hotel has a lobby that’s been called “the most beautiful room in Denver.” The hotel is located within downtown Denver’s former Colorado National Bank building and reflects that historic splendor. The lobby has 16 original murals depicting Native American and American West culture, painted by Colorado artist Allen Tupper True and installed in the building in 1925, as well as several of the original bank vaults.

Rooms here are spacious, modern, and casually elegant, though not terribly distinctive. Far more interesting is the food at the on-site range restaurant, which offers “New American West” cuisine, and the drinks and décor at the Teller Bar, which is set in one of the bank’s original teller stations.

Pick one of these hotels in downtown Denver, and you’ll have a unique experience while staying close to the action.
